Colleen is a Registered Psychotherapist, graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Master’s degree in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy. She also holds an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Sexuality, Marriage and Family from the University of Waterloo. Colleen considers it a privilege to be a partner in clients’ healing journeys, and hopes that through their work together they can generate a sense of curiosity and confidence that will support clients to lean into creating the life and relationships they want for themselves.
Taking both compassion and attachment-based lenses to reflect on clients’ lived experience, Colleen supports them to create new meaning-making for these experiences so clients can start to move forward in life again. She does so by drawing on an eclectic use of therapeutic modalities such as: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Strength-Based Therapy, Mindfulness and Narrative Therapy as part of an overall client-centred approach to care.
Outside of professional practice, Colleen finds balance and enjoyment in collecting books she promises she will one day read, belting out the tunes while driving, painting unsuspecting household items, and spending time with friends over a good cup of tea. Her personal life philosophy is that everything is better in colour, and creativity comes in many forms. Most of which require a degree of messiness to be truly enjoyed!
