Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
Helpful answers to our most frequently asked questions.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book online through our client portal, email us, call us, or send a message through our contact form and we’ll get back to you. Once you reach out, we’ll help match you with a therapist who fits what you’re looking for.
What kind of appointments are available?
We offer individual adult therapy, couples and marriage counselling, child and youth therapy, and clinical supervision, in person at our six Ontario clinics and online across the province. Sessions are 50 minutes.
What’s the cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This helps us offer your appointment time to another client who may be waiting. Late cancellations (less than 48 hours’ notice) and missed appointments are subject to the full session fee.
Do you offer a free consultation?
What are your reception hours?
Our reception team is available approximately 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, to answer questions, assist with bookings, and provide general support. You can also book appointments online anytime through our secure client portal. Existing clients can also use the portal to communicate securely with their therapist.
How much does therapy cost?
Our fees range from $140 to $200 per session, depending on the service provided and individual needs. For specific fees, please contact us for more details.
Do you offer direct billing?
Direct billing is available with selected therapists and most insurance providers. Coverage depends on your provider and the therapist you work with, so contact us to confirm what’s available for your plan. Where we can’t bill directly, we provide a receipt you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement.
What are your payment options?
Payment is due at the time of your session. We accept major credit cards and debit cards.
Is therapy covered by insurance?
Many extended health plans cover psychotherapy and counselling, though coverage varies by provider and plan. Check whether your plan covers services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or Registered Social Worker (RSW) so we can match you with the right therapist. If you have questions about your coverage or benefits, we’re happy to help, reach out here.
Are your therapists registered?
Yes. Every therapist at Therapy Heals is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), and listed on their public register.
How do I choose the right therapist?
Finding the right therapist is one of the most important parts of the therapy process. The relationship between you and your therapist is one of the most important factors in effective therapy. At Therapy Heals, we have a team of therapists with a variety of approaches and areas of expertise to help you find the right fit.
You can browse our team by location or by the type of support you’re looking for, or reach out and we’ll help match you with a therapist based on your needs and preferences. We also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation with your chosen therapist so you can ask questions and get a sense of whether they’re the right fit before booking your first appointment. Book your consultation by reaching out to us directly.
What approaches do your therapists use?
Every person is different, so therapy shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all. Our therapists draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT, Play Therapy, EFT, the Gottman Method, Mindfulness-Based Approaches, and many more, tailoring therapy to your unique needs, goals, and preferences. We match the approach to the person, not the other way around.
Can I switch therapists if it’s not the right fit?
Absolutely. Finding the right therapist is important, and it’s completely okay if the first match doesn’t feel right. Just let us know, and we’ll help you find a therapist who better fits your needs, goals, and preferences.
Do you offer online therapy?
Where are your clinics?
We have six clinics across southern Ontario: Bradford, Vaughan, Angus, Cambridge, Innisfil, and Tottenham, plus virtual therapy Ontario-wide.
Is online therapy as effective as in person?
Yes. Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress. Even more important than where therapy takes place is the relationship you build with your therapist. If you and your therapist decide together that in-person therapy would better meet your needs, we’ll help you make that transition.
Do I have to live near a clinic?
No. Our in-person clinics serve their surrounding communities, and our online therapy is available to anyone in Ontario.
